About Sue Carpenter
Sue Carpenter is passionate about bringing books to people of all reading abilities. Refusing to fully grow up, she keeps her imagination young by writing for children and teens. Her goal is to make stories that are easy to dive into—no barriers, no fluff. That’s why her books use simple, clear language, are shorter in length, and are thoughtfully designed to be dyslexia-friendly, ensuring every reader can find joy in a story.
Her storytelling has earned recognition across multiple platforms. She won First Place in the International Writers Workshop Sci-Fi/Fantasy competition with a short story set in her Blood Protectors world, and received a Highly Commended mention for Lavender Hill in Kids’ Lit. Her work has also been recognised as a finalist for the 2025 Te Pae Tawhiti Outstanding Achievement Award for the Blood Protectors collection, and she was longlisted for the 2026 Saint Julius Vogel Awards for Best Youth Novel with Puzzles and Pearls.
Writing under the pen names, Sue Carpenter, Rosie Lee, Lee Simpson, and Susan Glamuzina, Sue has published over 30 books and led the collaboration of five anthologies. She regularly visits schools, kindergartens, and community groups to share her work, speak openly about her own struggles with reading, and inspire others to find their voices through storytelling.
